Novabase strengthens its energy area through the acquisition of Iberwind assets
Novabase and Iberwind, leading producer of wind energy in Portugal, just signed a deal for the acquisition of a management and control platform for wind power production – SCADA, in the amount of 750 thousand euros. Simultaneously, Novabase and Iberwind signed a five year outsourcing contract of 2.7 million euros that begins by transferring to Novabase the team responsible for the SCADA
system, that shall continue to ensure the operations of the wind farms explored by Iberwind.
The signed agreement is part of a strategy defined by Novabase to reinforce its presence in the core systems of its clients, namely through asset acquisitions.
Luís Quaresma, Novabase Executive Director, states that “this long-term relation with the leading company in Portugal for renewable energy will allow us to continue to develop
our know how in energy core systems, positioning us as a strategic business partner to all the companies in this sector.
As to Arnaldo Navarro Machado, Iberwind CEO “this partnership with Novabase recognizes the value that this system, developed by our team has to the success of the
renewable business, by offering a set of advantages.
“Closing this partnership with the Information Technology national leader will not just guarantee that SCADA will continue to be developed as a platform, adjusting to the
natural market evolution, but, this being an outsourcing agreement, will also allow us to ensure our services with higher efficiency and reliability levels and with lower operational
costs” – he concludes.
