    Companies have to make a profit. But companies focused solely on profits are doomed. In truth, we are all connected, and we earn according to what we give. Both in an organization and in the world alike, if someone lags far behind, we all pay dearly. Great companies are those whose obsession creates artists, who make the world around us better. These companies are our model, and the ones we want to be compared to.

    Balance

    Discussion of sustainable economic development, ethics and social responsibility have become commonplace, boring and devoid of conviction. For Novabase, it’s not a matter of politically correct statements. We believe that we lose everything – time, money and life – without ethical, environmental and socioeconomic balance. Balance is a matter of intelligence and survival.

     

    Economic and human costs for deviations and imbalances have been ignored for decades – and continue to be ignored: ethical violations cost millions and years of delay; extreme socioeconomic differences generate conflict and violence; environmental imbalances cost millions in health programs and loss of resources.

     

     
     
     



    Balance – ethical, environmental and socioeconomic – is the key word of the 21st century.

    This is what we think and believe. And we seek it out in everything that we are and do, reflecting our conviction.

    Talent

    Everything depends on talent. One of the things we think about most is how to stimulate, attract and blend talents, and which skills to pursue and combine to give us full, integrated, multi-disciplinary responses. This is why we have implemented a partnership policy of knowledge with different institutions from a wide range of countries, from the University of Aveiro to Carnegie Mellon, from start-ups to MIT.


  • Education


    Novabase’s social work is focused on education, which we believe is the right path for eradicating exclusion and creating wealth.

    It will tip the balance in making life simpler and happier… a drop in the bucket, with a tremendous snowball effect.

    We have contributed for many years to childhood learning in less privileged areas. In a partnership with Escola Americana de Lisboa (CAISL – Carlucci American International School of Lisbon) and support from the Sintra City Council and the Ministry of Education, we organize

    summer courses that teach English and IT to children in the 3rd and 4th years at Sintra public schools.

    Nearly 100 children are now involved every summer. The program contributes three weeks of happiness to their lives.

    We rely on volunteer public school teachers who want to learn and apply teaching methods in their own schools through art, theatre and experimentation, facilitating English instruction and the use of IT with the youngest children.

    We celebrate together at the end of each course. Schools, teachers, parents and students take part in the show that the children prepare to show what they have learned. .
